Situation
Suburban was looking for a company to help them coordinate a cross-media promotion to their existing customers. They wanted to solicit more than 300,000 customers to sign up for their budget payment plan, which allows their customers to pay a fixed bill each month to make budgeting easier.
Solution
We worked with a third-party printer and mail house to produce a mailing with a unique 19-digit code for each customer. The customers then had the capability to contact Suburban in the manner that was most convenient for them. The Web site we developed allowed the customers to enter their codes and sign up for the plan in a simple two-click process. That information was then sent to Suburban in XML format to integrate directly into their internal databases.
Results
Due to the convenience presented to the customer, the campaign response rate was more than 60% higher than other similar campaigns. The integration of our Web services with the mail house allowed us to provide data to Suburban Energy in a format that was compatible with their existing internal systems, allowing them to easily process applicants.
